Our teachers are qualified professionals who meet and exceed the Department of Early Education and Care standards. Each staff member must pass a background check, references, a comprehensive health examination and have their credentials screened by the state. In addition, our staff must complete a minimum 12 hours of continuing education classes in early childhood topics each year. All staff are certified in pediatric First Aid and CPR.

Sally B. Sands, M. Ed

Sally Sands has been the owner and teaching director of First Meeting House nursery school since 1998. She holds a Master's degree in Education, an undergraduate degree in Business Management and specific courses in early childhood education and administration. In addition to natural science teaching experience at MA Audubon, she participates in Journey North's citizen science program, raising, tagging and tracking monarch butterflies. She is Director (One) and Lead Teacher certified by the MA Department of Early Education and Care.

 

 

PATRICIA M. BLACKMER, B.S.

Patricia Blackmer holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with classes in art and psychology. She joined our preschool teaching team in 2005. As a former member of the Marblehead School Committee, she is an active and knowledgeable advocate of sound education practices. She served as chair of the Glover School Building Committee for several years leading to the funding by the town and the Massachusetts School Building Authority. She is Teacher certified by EEC.

Patricia and her husband Joel have three children, Mikaela, Colin and Trey. Their sons attended FMH from 1998 to 2000. When she is not fostering independence and nurturing creativity in three- and four-year olds, Patricia enjoys walking her dog Scamp around Ware Pond and walking with Joel along Preston Beach.

Jennifer dunklee berardi, M.ed., B.s.

Jennifer Berardi holds a Master’s degree in Education, an undergraduate degree in English, and specific courses in early childhood education, special education and administration. She is a certified Boston Children’s Foundation movement therapy instructor. She is Lead Teacher certified by EEC.
